Phaedrus’ Fables – Phaedri Fabulae

Description

In this class we will read an all time classic of Latin literature: Phaedrus’ Fables. The Fables are a good starting point for anybody who wants to get into the habit of reading original Latin texts (after having learned the basics through a textbook). We will read one fable per class, rephrasing and discussing the original text in Latin so as to deepen our knowledge of Latin grammar and vocabulary.

For whom is this course?

• Intermediate learners (equivalent to at least one year of university studies)

Prerequisites

• Good knowledge of Latin (you should know, or at least be willing to revisit, all the basics of Latin grammar)
• Prior experience speaking the language is welcome but not needed

Lanugage of instruction

• Latin (a handout with useful phrases will be given out before the first session)

Triodos Trivium is offering online language classes in Ancient Greek and Latin. After sending out this registration request, you will receive a confirmation email with the necessary payment information. Your registration will be complete after you have paid the course fee of the class you want to attend.
You can cancel your registration any time via email. If you cancel before a class has started, you will receive a full refund minus a ten percent administration fee. If you have to cancel a class that has already started, you will receive a partial refund in direct proportion to the number of classes that you already have attended minus a ten percent administration fee. For example: If you have to cancel half way in of a course, you will receive a 50% refund minus 10% percent of the originally paid course fee.
