Description
In this class we will read an all time classic of Latin literature: Phaedrus’ Fables. The Fables are a good starting point for anybody who wants to get into the habit of reading original Latin texts (after having learned the basics through a textbook). We will read one fable per class, rephrasing and discussing the original text in Latin so as to deepen our knowledge of Latin grammar and vocabulary.
For whom is this course?
- Intermediate learners (equivalent to at least one year of university studies)
Prerequisites
- Good knowledge of Latin (you should know, or at least be willing to revisit, all the basics of Latin grammar)
- Prior experience speaking the language is welcome but not needed
Lanugage of instruction
- Latin (a handout with useful phrases will be given out before the first session)
